In the diverse and often challenging landscape of Northeast India, many grassroots Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been quietly doing impactful work running programs in livelihoods, health, education, gender, and governance.
But over time, one thing became clear: many of these organizations were struggling internally — not because they lacked commitment or ideas, but because they didn’t always have access to the tools, systems, or support needed to run their institutions effectively.
SeSTA, having worked closely with both communities and CSOs across the region, felt the need for a deeper, more sustained response — something that could build the institutional backbone of these organizations over time.
That’s how NoDe (Northeast Organizational Development for Empowerment) was born in January 2024 with the support of the Axis Bank Foundation.
At its core, NoDe remains rooted in one belief: strong CSOs make strong communities, and Northeast India deserves both.
